Salary floor

The salary floor (minimum team salary) is 90% of the salary cap. A team that finishes the season below it doesn't get punished competitively; the shortfall is simply distributed to the players on its roster.

Since the 2023 CBA, teams must reach the floor by the first day of the regular season rather than season's end, which forces rebuilding teams to take on salary earlier.
