The 2028-29 salary cap is $188.9M (projected), and the Heat's cap salary (contracts, dead money, and cap holds for their own free agents) adds up to $117.9M. That leaves $71.0M they can spend directly on outside free agents, with no matching rules.

Room teams also keep the room mid-level exception ($10.7M) for one more signing after the space is used. The trade-off is that opening room usually means renouncing their own free agents and the Bird rights that come with them.
